Dom's UK Top Tips: Service
Clifton_suspension_bridge.jpg

Bristol

Food – Burger Theory – A must for those burger lovers out there! An exciting menu full of variety with plenty of options (including vegetarian and vegan). If you swing by at the right time of the month then you will be lucky enough to catch their bottomless burgers and booze! For £29.95 each you get 2 full hours of burgers and alcohol which also includes a wide array of delicious sides! - £-££

Drink – The Apple - This one is for all you cider lovers! The Apple is a wonderfully converted Dutch barge that is sat on the river near Queens Square. It is a great place to sample many local ciders, including their very strong own ‘Old Bristolian’ cider! They host many events no matter what time of the year so check it out. - £-££

Activity - Clifton Suspension Bridge - Fancy taking a stroll? Follow the Avon Trail from Bristol City Centre and end up at the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Head to the observatory or the Avon Gorge Hotel for wonderful views of the bridge. Alternatively, if it’s a sunny day grab a picnic and take a seat in the park next to the bridge, again with great views, it’s a perfect way to spend an afternoon. - FREE

Cambridge

Food - The Chop House - This rustic restaurant is perfect if you're looking for an old-school British menu. Some fine cuts of tasty meat always cooked amazingly. They also do a cracking Full English! Fairly reasonably priced for such delicious food. Accompanied by beers and ciders from local breweries and a unique wine list that focuses on a particular region in France, it's not one to miss! - £-££

Drink - The Pint Shop - Located just a short walk from the market square in the centre of the city, the pint shop serves up a great array of craft ales and beers but even more impressively house a selection of over 90 different gins! A must for those G&T lovers! They also serve up some great food if you are feeling a bit peckish; my favourite is the sausage roll on the bar menu! - £-££

Activity - Other than its university, what's the one thing that comes to mind when you think of Cambridge... Punting of course! If you get a nice summers day then there is no better way to view the universities than via a punt on the River Cam. You can rent your own; which I can promise will come with many laughs, or get a guided punt, either way, it's a great way to view the river and parts of the city you wouldn't see on foot!

(There are many punting companies, book when you arrive at the river!) - ££

FoodThe Wheelhouse - Tucked away down a little alley, in the centre of town is The Wheelhouse. A seafoodie’s paradise! With a selection of the fresh catch of the day each evening; whether it be crab, mussels or my personal favourite prawns. This place gets booked up very far in advance so make sure you make the reservation! Open Wednesday – Saturday. - ££-£££

DrinkThe Ferry Boat Inn - Although actually located in Helford (15 minutes drive from Falmouth), The Ferry Boat Inn is perfect for a quiet pint after a days exploring. They do boat hire (if that is something that would interest you) and what better way to wind down then with a great selection of local beers and ciders to try! - £-££

Activity Falmouth Golf Club - There are a number of fun activities to get stuck into in and around Falmouth, whether that be walks along the coast or fishing in the harbour. However, my number 1 pick for those sports fans like me would be Falmouth Golf Club. An affordable and stunning, links course situated just a short drive from the town. Bring the family along for the walk around the back 9 and you won’t be disappointed by the views! - ££

 Hitchin (Hertfordshire)

Food - Groundworks - There are a few contenders but definitely my vote for the best brunch in Hitchin! All food made fresh to order using local produce and a great selection to choose from. Not to mention a variety of smoothies as well as a great coffee - £-££

Drink - Hermitage Road - One of the other contenders for food, however 'The Herm' hosts a great bar and drinking area, which is perfect for small and big groups. They often host live music so it's a great way to spend an evening with friends. - ££

Activity - Take a look through the picturesque historic market town. Take a stroll through the market place, and into many of there independent shops. If you're feeling like putting on your walking boots or hopping on a bike, the 'Greenway Cycle Route' is ideal. - FREE

London

Food – Bravas Tapas – Situated in Saint Katherine Docks, Bravas is a modern, Basque-style tapas restaurant. A cosy and rustic place, where the food never disappoints and the service is always to a very high standard. Just a stone's throw from tower bridge, it’s a perfect place to eat before heading out for some evening drinks. - ££

Drink – Sushi Samba – A slightly more expensive option, but hey, you’re in London! With a great selection of cocktails to choose from and stunning 360 views of the whole city, this is the perfect place to treat yourself after a long day sightseeing! - £££-££££

Activity – Go Boat - Of course London is full of fun activities so this was definitely one of the harder ones to pick my favourite. For the 'first timers' I would always recommend a bus or bike tour, as these can be quick and effective ways of seeing all the sights. However, for those looking for something a bit different, I would highly recommend GoBoat, a fun and quirky way of seeing a different side of London. - ££
